A Polish national living in Ireland for the past nine years yesterday pleaded guilty to having €432,000 worth of cannabis at his home in Macroom, Co Cork, last April.

Sylwester Pilarski, of Annahala West, Toames, Macroom, was arraigned at Cork Circuit Criminal Court.

He pleaded guilty to possession of a combination of cannabis resin and herb for sale or supply at a time when the street value of the drug amounted to €13,000 or more — the threshold figure for a mandatory minimum term of 10 years unless there are exceptional circumstances.
