An intoxicated man arrested at a place called Church Ground made “a holy show of himself” in a Kerry village in January, Kenmare District Court heard yesterday.

Padraig Casey,aged 37, of Frenanaugh, Clonkeen, Killarney, stopped traffic in Kilgarvan at 6.20pm on January 21. He was highly intoxicated, the court was told.

“This was in the middle of Kilgarvan. He was trying to thumb a lift. He was holding up traffic,” Supt Flor Murphy informed Judge James O’Connor.
