Victim of violent burglary keeps hurley by bedside

The victim of a violent burglary has been left in such fear that he now goes to bed with a hurley by his side.

Yesterday the two culprits were jailed.

The injured party was struck on the head with what he thought was some kind of bar. One of the accused, apprentice plumber, Craig Pigott of Derrynanool, Mitchelstown, Co Cork, admitted to gardaí he had the weapon which he described as “my favourite wrench”.
