Minister Dara Murphy finishes UCC arts degree

European Affairs Minister Dara Murphy, who dropped out of college in the 90s, has denied he received special treatment to allow him to complete his degree at UCC without attending a single lecture.

The Fine Gael TD for Cork North Central, who also has responsibility for data protection, and who was recently elected vice president of the European People’s Party, was among hundreds of students who graduated with an arts degree from UCC on Wednesday.

Work commitments prevented him from attending the graduation ceremony.
