Garda James Masters obtained a warrant to search the home of David Lynch, 20, at Halfway, Ballinhassig, Co Cork, and when the search was carried out they found a €400 stash of cannabis, €3,000 cash, tick-lists, weighing scales and a phone containing drug-related communications via texts.

Inspector John Deasy said yesterday at Cork District Court: “In the course of formal interview the defendant admitted he ordered the drugs online, took delivery via Ann Post and sold them on.” Defence solicitor, Frank Buttimer, said the experience of the probation service was that Lynch did not for a period of time appreciate the gravity of the situation in which he found himself.
