VIDEO: Navy recruits ‘raring to go’ for refugee rescue mission

Naval Service top brass are already planning refugee rescue operations to the Mediterranean Sea next spring.

The LÉ Samuel Beckett is scheduled to return home in December but the Government has not yet sanctioned any further missions.

Indications of a likely springtime mission came during a passing out parade at Naval Service headquarters. Senior officials confirmed to the Irish Examiner plans were in progress.
