Diamond Cork Film Festival shines with premiere of Steve Jobs biopic

The new Steve Jobs biopic will get its Irish premiere in a city that is home to Apple’s European headquarters, a facility the late company founder regularly visited; while Cork’s great music hero Rory Gallagher will feature in a documentary and film of his band Taste’s legendary performance at the Isle of Wight in 1971.

Given the celebration of 60 years of the event, there will be an element of looking back to its founding in 1956 as an early adaptor of the festival format and a major marking on the European calendar. Artistic director James Mullighan has been working on linking the festival’s early glory days to its modern incarnation as an event that’s still at the heart of the city’s cultural life.
