HSE shuts Kinsale creche following E.coli scare

The HSE has confirmed that it has temporarily closed a creche in Kinsale, Co Cork, following an E.coli scare.

Two cases of confirmed Verotoxigenic E.coli (VTEC) infection in children at the Little Rascals creche were recently notified to the HSE. Neither child required hospitalisation and are reported to be well.

“All attending the facility have been asked to submit stool samples for laboratory testing as a precaution. The children are not attending the facility while this process is under way. The investigation is expected to be completed shortly,” a HSE statement read.
