Gardaí in Cork are trying to establish if a Frenchman died as a result of an alleged attack in the city centre.

They have made an appeal for people to come forward if they witnessed the attack on the 37-year-old man, which is alleged to have occurred shortly before 2pm last Thursday, September 10, on Lower Oliver Plunkett St.

It is said to have taken place in an area between the Clarion Hotel and Jurys Inn.
