After a school bus with up to 52 children on board was overturned in Cork, Gardaí and school principals are also liaising to record the exact numbers of pupils from the respective schools who were on board at the time. One pupil is understood to have suffered a broken leg.
Tánaiste Joan Burton has said that she expects payment rates for Irish Water bills to increase in the future. Irish Water claimed this morning that 51% of those billed are complying at the moment, after initial figures on the first billing cycle put the figure at 43%.
Ireland’s largest civil service union, the Civil Public and Services Union (CPSU), has today voted in favour of the Lansdowne Road agreement. Members voted to accept the deal on public service pay and conditions by a majority of more than two to one.
Micheál Martin has said that he is the only alternative to Enda Kenny for Taoiseach. Fianna Fáil leader also said that he wants ’no holds barred’ debate with Enda Kenny ahead of the election.
