The 31-year-old came under fire after an article in a Sunday newspaper in which she appeared to suggest gluten causes conditions such as autism, arthritis and schizophrenia. Ms Davison has since said her comments were misrepresented.
“Oh the ‘gluten-gate’ controversy. Well that just went back to an interview I did two weeks ago where it was miscommunicated and in the interview it said that I apparently said that gluten causes and cures a variety of conditions or diseases, which is not what I said at all, I was explaining in the interview that there are certain areas of research and medical science that suggest a possible link between gluten and a series of conditions or diseases. I don’t think that’s controversial,” she said.
