Following confirmation of the country’s best ever overseas visitor figures in the first half of 2015, the Government has warned the tourism industry not to repeat the “mistakes of the past” by hiking prices.

CSO figures show the number of overseas visitors grew by 407,100 or 11.7% in the first six months of the year compared to the same period in 2014.

Transport, Tourism, and Sport Minister Paschal Donohoe warned: “As tourism performance improves, however, we must be mindful of the mistakes that were made in the past and ensure that they are not repeated.
