Party rejects claim it only has €11,000

Renua Ireland has described claims it only has €11,000 "left in the kitty" as "creative" newspaper editing, but declined to explain exactly how much money it has available.

The party made the claim after reports it is struggling to gain financial support for its plan to run candidates in every general election constituency.

Deputy leader Billy Timmins said the €11,000 figure was “creative” editing and based on a radio interview where he said €40,000 was raised to compete in May’s Carlow-Kilkenny by-election, which cost Renua €29,000.
