Rape accused remanded in custody after bail objection

A young woman was allegedly raped in a park in Cork by two men on June 28, 2013, and gardaí objected to bail being granted to one of the accused yesterday.

Detective Garda Katrine Tansley testified during a bail application her fear that if given bail, the accused would not turn up in court to stand trial.

“He is charged with rape which carries a maximum of life imprisonment on conviction,” said Det Garda Tansley.
