Motorcyclist fined, disqualified from driving after chase

A motorcyclist who agreed to take a new bike out for a test drive for a friend panicked when he was stopped by a garda and took off at a speed of up to 130kmh in Cork City.

Garda Jim Bugler said the highest speeds were reached on the South Link Rd but that it was also driven at speed through a housing estate at Greenhills Court where children were playing on the green areas.

Judge Olann Kelleher said yesterday at Cork District Court: “This could have been very dangerous with all the children playing there. He created the danger by driving through as speed.” Judge Kelleher praise the actions of Garda Jim Bugler who pursued the motor- cyclist and arrested him.
