HSE’s final payout of €10m in locked-in syndrome case

A judge yesterday indicated that he will award 32-year-old Eoin O’Mahony in the region of €10m, bringing the total paid to the Cork man in his case against the HSE to €14.9m.

Mr Justice Michael Moriarty said he intended to award between €10m and €10.1m to Mr O’Mahony as a final lump sum payment to cover his future care needs. The exact figure will be finalised in October when the judge gives a breakdown on how the money is to be allocated.
