‘Devious’ mother accused ex of abusing daughter

A judge described a woman who has alleged that her ex-partner abused their five-year-old daughter as “devious, self-serving, and duplicitous”.

The father of the woman’s two children had not seen them since February of this year, after the children’s mother complained to gardaí and other authorities that he had sexually abused their only daughter.

At the family law court in Ennis, Judge Patrick Durcan said he believes the mother “has concocted a version of events, irrespective of the effect of that approach on others, particularly her children, to serve her own purposes”.
