Woman who waved wheel brace at gardaí avoids jail

A woman who rushed at gardaí with a wheel brace over her head claimed yesterday she had been outside her home doing some work with the implement. In a similar incident a week later with a knife, she said it was a potato-peeler and she had been making the dinner.

Kathryn Sheehan of Willsbrook, Broadale, Maryborough Hill, Cork, was given an overall sentence of five months which was suspended on condition that she would keep the peace and be of good behaviour for the next two years.

Sheehan pleaded guilty to producing an implement and engaging in threatening behaviour in the course of both incidents.
