A keg of beer was rolled down a flight of steps at a garda as he investigated a drunken disturbance.

A six-month jail sentence was imposed yesterday on Aaron Quinn-Walsh, of 55 Killala Gardens, Knocknaheeny, Cork, on charges arising out of the incident.

Inspector Mary King said that, after midnight on February 14, Garda Eric Stafford was on patrol in the Lower John St area of Blackpool when he observed a number of youths drinking on the steps.
