Man who groomed girl, 14, for sex is jailed

A man in his 40s who groomed a teenager on Facebook and via text message for oral sex was jailed for four years yesterday.

Cork Circuit Criminal Court heard that Brian O’Keeffe of Newtown, Ballyclough, Mallow, Co Cork, directed the young girl to websites of a sexual nature in order to give her details on how to perform oral sex.

The court heard he groomed the 14-year-old via Facebook and texts in a bid to convince her that she was in a boyfriend/girlfriend-type relationship.
