Daniel O’Connell’s ancestral home gets €1.25m revamp

Minister of state for tourism and sport Michael Ring performed the ceremony at Derrynane House, Caherdaniel, Co Kerry.
Built largely to O’Connell’s design in the 1820s, the property, located in Derrynane National Historic Park, was presented to the people of Ireland by his descendants in 1964. It has an unparalleled collection of furniture, paintings, books and memorabilia associated with O’Connell.
