Barbie finally able to wear flat shoes

Well imagine how one 56-year-old who’s been wearing high heels her whole life feels.
Barbara Millicent Roberts — better known as Barbie to generations of children — is getting a significant makeover.
The Barbie doll has only ever been able to wear high heels — her feet are actually engineered to look as if they’re permanently wearing invisible four-inch pumps.
But that’s all going to change with the release of a new range of Barbies from Mattel’s ‘fashionista’ line —for the first time Barbie will come with adjustable ankles so she can wear flat shoes.
Mattel, hail the ‘cosmetic surgery’ as an “articulated ankle [which] means dolls can wear fabulous high heels or adorable flats — a pair of each is included!”

The new dolls come with stylish flats such as a pair of cream gladiator sandals or a pair of golden strappy flats.
However, in a possible blow to feminism — or just a nod to reality — it must be noted that Mattel point out that no matter what type of shoes she dons the “doll cannot stand alone”.
