‘Do you know who I am?’ boxer Nevin asked garda

Boxer John Joe Nevin challenged a garda in a melee outside a pub by asking: “Do you know who I am?”

When the Olympic silver medallist was advised by the garda to leave the area of an early-morning melee outside the pub, where he drank “10 to 12 pints”, he had replied: “You don’t fucking tell me what I do.”

Nevin, aged 25, of St Anthony’s Cottages, Mullingar, admitted a public order offence arising from involvement in “a general melee” outside the Porter House on Dominick St at 1am on December 27.
