Treacy highlights value of Wexford sports hub
Irish Sports Council CEO John Treacy and cathaoirleach of Wexford County Council’s Enniscorthy district Barbara-Anne Murphy performed the opening of the facility, the first of its kind in the county.
The state-of-the-art sports track and field venue offers athletes a 400m eight-lane all-weather running track, long jump and high jump areas, steeplechase, and a centre in-field area, all of which are floodlit.
It also includes extensive changing facilities, completed to the standards of the International Association of Athletics Federations.

The Enniscorthy Sports Hub is expected to attract users from across the southeast and, according to John Treacy, it “brings the facility standard available in Wexford to an international level”.
He stressed the importance of having such facilities across the country, “if we are to properly nurture our sports talent and increase our competitiveness in athletics at an international level”.
Saturday’s opening included a number of events and a parade of sports groups from the county.
