Festival to mark 160 years of Cork Opera House
Dessner’s Sounds From A Safe Harbour festival will take place from September 17 to 20 in Cork Opera House, and in almost a dozen other venues across the city, including The Everyman, Triskel, and Firkin Crane.
Among acts linked to the festival — but which have yet to be formally announced — are contemporary Irish supergroup The Gloaming, This Is How We Fly, Lisa Hannigan, Amiina, Julianna Barwick, Aaron Dessner of The National, Valgeir Sigursson, Richard Reed Parry of Arcade Fire, My Brightest Diamond, So Percussion, Liam Byrne, the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, and Donal Dineen.
The festival is also expected to feature a performance of Wave Movements, a piece written by Bryce Dessner and Richard Reed Parry, and a co-commission by Cork Opera House, The Barbican, Sydney, and Edinburgh festivals, as the festival centrepiece.
Tickets are expected to go on sale on May 21.
