Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to the crash which claimed the life of a German man in Kerry on Saturday night.

The incident which claimed the life of Werner Bruckmann, 53, occurred on the Tralee to Abbeydorney Rd at about 9.55pm.

Gardaí said there was a collision between two cars and a motorcycle being ridden by Mr Bruckmann, who had been living in Ireland for more than 20 years and had an address in Abbeydorney. He was fatally injured and declared dead at the scene.

His body was taken to Tralee for an autopsy.

No one else was injured in the collision.

The road on which the incident occurred remained closed yesterday to facilitate a Garda forensic examination of the scene.

Gardaí appealed for any witnesses to contact Tralee Garda Station on 066 7102300.

Mr Bruckmann was the second motorcyclist to die in the space of 24 hours.

At about 9.20pm on Friday, a 32-year-old man died after his bike crashed on the N52 between the Tullaheady and the Portroe roundabouts in Tipperary.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to Limerick for an autopsy.

Last night, a spokesman said gardaí were continuing to investigate the collision. The victim has not yet been officially named.
