‘RIP’ letter from Irish Water is callous and distressing, says widow

A young widow has told of her shock at seeing a water bill addressed to her dead husband — complete with the letters ‘RIP’ after his name.

Mother of two Jessica Montague said that receiving the letter was “a complete and total shock”.

“We got two letters. One was a bill and the other was an information pack and some leaflets. It’s callous and distressing because the fact is they obviously knew the person they were addressing was deceased because they wrote RIP. It’s horrible. It makes you relive all these emotions all over again.”
