Aubrie just couldn’t wait to come motoring into world

Aubrie Moran made her entry in the front seat of the family car last week as parents, Amanda and Michael made a desperate dash to Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe from their Mountbellew home in Co Galway.
The couple did not even have time to arrange for someone to look after their other three children, so Mischa, six, Saoirse, four, and two-year-old Ella got a crash-course in baby delivery as Aubrie decided to arrive in the front passenger seat within seconds of pulling up in the hospital car park.
“My waters broke about a mile from Ballinasloe. I panicked a bit, but I still didn’t think I would be giving birth in the car,” said Amanda.
However, Aubrie was already on the way as Michael reached the junction in Ballinasloe, just before Portiuncula, and she was in her mother’s arms when they got to the hospital carpark.
The couple remained remarkably calm throughout and told the other three children exactly what was happening.
“It has been a bit of a shocker to be honest,” admitted Michael yesterday, “but the baby is great and the rest of us are all tip-top as well. Everything worked out by the grace of God.
“After all the excitement, things have quickly settled down. We had a lovely turkey dinner for Easter and plenty of Easter eggs for everyone — a nice way to wind down what was quite a week for us,” he said.

The district nurse also arrived over the weekend to check Aubrie.
“She is as quiet as a mouse and feeding like a racehorse. The other kids are looking after her and running around to help wherever they can.”
Michael is hoping to return to work today at Mountbellew Agricultural College — but only if he manages to get a good night’s sleep.
