An 86-year-old man was kicked in the leg on a street in Cork by a much younger man who shouted obscenities at him.

Dominick Martin, aged 53, of 359 Blarney St, Cork, pleaded guilty at Cork District Court yesterday to a charge of assaulting Jim O’Rourke on December 3, 2014 on Shandon St, Cork.

Inspector Ronan Kennelly outlined the background to the assault.
