Limerick group wants end to direct provision
Yesterday, a former resident of Mount Trenchard and member of the End Direct Provision Limerick group, praised the council for its unanimous support, and added: “We are very grateful to Cllr (Cian) Prendiville and to the council for supporting this call.

"Hopefully, the nightmare of Mount Trenchard will soon come to an end. I was there for eight months and the experience damaged me as a person. I have been scarred. I will carry these scars with me for the rest of my life.”
End Direct Provision Limerick met councillors recently in a bid to get their backing for the campaign.
The group want an end to the direct provision system, which prevents asylum seekers from working and houses them while they wait for their asylum applications to be processed.

Doras Luimni says it has been barred from Mount Trenchard since September 2014 and wants it shut down.
