Accused ‘said he put man in chute’

A witness in a murder trial testified yesterday that she laughed when the accused told her over the phone that he assaulted someone and threw him down a drainpipe because she thought it was impossible.

The witness was giving evidence in the trial of David O’Loughlin, 28, with an address at Garden City Apartments, North Main St, Cork, who denies murdering Liam Manley, 59, at Garden City Apartments, North Main St, Cork, on May 12, 2013.

Mr Manley’s remains were found in a refuse chute, which ran from the top of the four-floor complex to the ground floor.
