People are the weakest link in cybersecurity

The weakest link in computer network security is not hackers but the people who legitimately use the internet, a study shows.

Careless use of the internet by individuals and lax security by businesses and other organisations is helping cyberattackers exploit weaknesses in computer systems and networks.

Targeted malware campaigns are also putting many businesses at risk of security breaches, with the pharmaceutical industry in greatest danger, said the latest annual security report from networking specialist Cisco.
