Kenny: Callinan report expected soon

Taoiseach Enda Kenny has indicated the report of a judicial inquiry into the departure of former garda commissioner Martin Callinan would be published in the “not too distant future”.

The commission of investigation, headed by retired High Court justice Nial Fennelly, is examining the events that led to the shock resignation of Mr Callinan on March 25 last.

This included a late-night visit to Mr Callinan’s home on March 24 by the then secretary general of the Department of Justice, Brian Purcell, on the direction of Mr Kenny.
