Six have narrow escape as fire in house spreads

The alarm was raised when the blaze was discovered at Tirellan Heights, just off the Galway-Headford road, at about 6.15am yesterday.
Three units of Galway Fire Brigade were quickly at the scene as the fire spread from one of the homes to the adjoining property.
The six residents all made their way quickly to safety, while gardaí assisted in evacuating other locals from nearby homes as a precaution. Nobody was injured in the operation.
Fire brigade personnel fought the blaze for almost three hours before bringing it under control. One of the houses was destroyed and the other was badly damaged.
Gardaí and fire officers were yesterday attempting to discover how the fire broke out.
