George Hook gives his line on hospital experience
The Newstalk presenter underwent a successful knee operation in Blackrock Clinic yesterday, passing the time by posting about his experience on social media.
“I must confess to a feeling of sadness that 600 people are on trollies [sic] and thanks to VHI I am in a smart room in Blackrock Clinic,” he tweeted.
However, the rugby pundit seemed in good spirits in the run-up to the surgery, jokingly asking followers to inform Pamela Anderson about his well-being.
“I am ecstatic! All appears to have gone well. Sadly no further news on ED. The epidural has left me no feeling below the waist. Sorry Pam,” he tweeted after the operation.
Hook, 73, also praised his wife Ingrid, who “kept the VHI going”, and revealed one of his New Year’s resolutions is to “challenge” Health Minister Leo Varadkar on universal health.
Wish I could broadcast the show from floor three of the Blackrock Clinic. It would have been fun to have Lucinda visit or even Leo !

Meanwhile, Hook’s media firm, Foxrock Communications Ltd, is in the process of winding up. The Cork native is set to pocket more than €900,000 from the voluntary closure.
