Win King Nidge runners

They didn’t bring the anti-hero of Love/Hate much luck but one charity is hoping that King Nidge’s runners will bring a big boost to their fortunes.

Win King Nidge runners

The producers of Love/Hate have made a generous donation to Pieta House this Christmas — the original pair of King Nidge runners featured in this year’s Love/Hate finale.

Now the charity — a support service to help prevent suicide and self-harm — will hold a public competition to win the coveted pair of kicks.

Hopeful entrants must ‘text to win’ the runners, with each entry costing €2, the majority of which is donated to Pieta House.

Joan Freeman, founder and chief executive of Pieta House, said the gift couldn’t have come at a better time.

“This year we’ve a shortfall of €300,000 due to an increased demand on our services.

“So the timing of this very generous donation couldn’t be better,” she said.

“Not only will you be in with a chance of winning but you’ll also be helping Pieta House to continue to offer its vital services throughout the country.”

Pieta House has seen more than 4,800 clients this year and has provided more than 46,000 hours of counselling, an increase of more than 20% on last year.

Love/Hate producer Suzanne McAuley said she was delighted to be able to support the charity.

“King Nidge’s iconic runners are a coveted prize and we sincerely hope they will help raise the much-needed funds for Pieta House,” she said.

To enter simply text NIDGE to 57802 before 6pm on Christmas Eve.
