Mum in labour drove into roundabout

A woman who was in labour drove her car into a roundabout to grab the attention of motorists.

Abe Adetella, who is in her late 30s, gave birth at the side of a road on the outskirts of Kilkenny City on Wednesday night in what were described as foggy and cold conditions, with temperatures below freezing.

From Tommy Murphy Park in Carlow town, the mother of three other children was driving to St Luke’s General Hospital to have her blood pressure checked when she felt a “huge move”, and knew her baby girl was about to arrive.
