A team of Irish medics at Temple Street Hospital have revealed the horrific injuries sustained by a two-and-a-half-year-old girl following a Brazilian tapir attack at Dublin Zoo.

In an academic paper on the August 2013 attack by the plant-eating creature on the girl, the medics state she was “fortunate” in that she suffered no infectious complications despite being at high risk of infection. She emerged with no long-term sickness.

In their report in the current edition of the Irish Medical Journal (IMJ), the medics attach two graphic photos of the injuries sustained by the girl to her left arm and her abdomen area.
