More M8 markings pledged after crash

The National Roads Authority (NRA) has said it will put in extra road markings on junctions along the M8 in north Cork and south Tipperary in an effort to prevent motorists going the wrong way down the motorway.

In recent times, a number of vehicles have been spotted on the wrong carriageway and in one case, this led to the death of a man in his late 20s just north of Fermoy.

An NRA spokesman said it would be carrying out some remedial works on the junctions in the coming weeks.
