Details of the forthcoming Marymount Hospice Ball were revealed last night. The six previous annual events have raised in excess of €600,000 to help maintain the work the hospice provides in palliative and respite care for the sick and elderly.
The ball, which will include a major auction, is to take place at Radisson Blu Hotel, Little Island, on Friday, December 5, and its ambassador, broadcasting personality Daithí Ó Sé, is urging as many people as possible to support the venture.
Dan Philpott, chief executive officer at Marymount Hospice, said the ball goes from strength to strength each year, raising much-needed funds.
“This success can be attributed to a dedicated organising committee, strong sponsorship partners and, above all, the attendees who support the tremendous work carried out by the hospice and its medical team on a daily basis,” said Mr Philpott.
The auction will feature some fantastic items such as a ladies Longines watch set with Wesselton diamonds and a night at the ballet for four with the exclusive use of the Rolex box at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London, for a performance of Swan Lake. Accommodation for four at the Hilton Waldorf is included.
Two tickets are also up for grabs for the Ladies Final at the French Open Tennis at Roland Garros on June 6, with the successful bidder also getting two return flights to Paris.
Those with a taste for the culinary will no doubt bid for a five-day cooking masterclass for two people with SuperValu brand ambassador and celebrity chef Kevin Dundon at Dunbrody House.
The event’s main sponsor is BAM Construction and it is also receiving support from Heineken, Musgrave, and Keanes Jewellers.
Tables of 10 cost €1,500, or individual tickets may be purchased for €150 each.
