Council pledges to relax parking charges in run-up to Christmas

Deputy chief executive Declan Daly said he would be making suggestions to members of the eight municipal districts about providing free or discounted parking in the run-up to Christmas.
He was speaking after Cllr Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire (SF) put down a motion calling on the authority to provide “a special temporary relaxation of pay parking from November 21 to December 24”. Mr Ó Laoghaire said it would help businesses which were also facing a lot of competition from out-of-town multiples which had free parking.
