App to take on obesity in children with rewards

An app tackling childhood obesity has been designed so that the children are rewarded for healthy food choices and for taking exercise.

‘Planet Munchie’ is able to detect if a child has done the physical activity needed to earn more rewards or points to improve the virtual world of their avatar.

Muireann Cullen from Nutrition and Health Foundation said: “We were involved in the development of the questions about nutrition that are part of the game and we had a dedicated core group of people involved in that work.”
