Frederick ‘Freddie’ Thompson has launched a High Court challenge against the Prison Service’s decision to transfer him from Cloverhill to Cork Prison.

He has also mounted a challenge to a decision to sanction him for alleged breaches of discipline.

Thompson, aged 33, from Loreto Rd, Maryland, Dublin, is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to engaging in violent disorder at Morrissey’s Pub, Cork St, on January 7, 2013. He is remanded in custody until his sentence hearing on February 2.
