Cabinet to discuss botched Seanad nomination

The Cabinet will today discuss Taoiseach Enda Kenny’s botched Seanad nomination ahead of opposition party efforts to force a Dáil debate on the issue.

Ministers will discuss how to improve the process of deciding how people are appointed to state boards.

The discussion comes after Mr Kenny said he took full responsibility for the appointment of John McNulty to the board of the Irish Museum of Modern Art ahead of his nomination for a vacant Seanad seat. Mr McNulty has since resigned from his Imma post.
