Irishman killed in Cambodia accident
The young man, named locally as Tomás Beecher, aged 30, from near Fermoy, Co Cork, died after the accident in the Cambodian capital, Phnom Penh, on Saturday.
The Department of Foreign Affairs is providing consular assistance to his family while arrangements are made to bring the body home.
Cambodian authorities are still investigating the circumstances of the accident but local reports suggested Mr Beecher was trying to cross a busy junction with a group of pedestrians when he was struck by a 4x4.
Emergency services rushed to the scene but, despite their best efforts, Mr Beecher was pronounced dead soon afterwards.
