Newer homes are more energy efficient

The Central Statistics Office has revealed almost half a million dwellings had a Building Energy Rating (BER) audit conducted between January 2009 and June 2014.

The survey of 488,199 units found that 92% of homes built since 2010 have a BER of B or higher, compared to houses constructed in 2005-2009 where only 1% received an A rating and 38% a B rating.
