Firm looking for Irish butlers... to serve in the buff

An underdressed wine waiter may not be everyone’s idea of a gentleman’s gentleman but even butlers have to roll with the times.

Firm looking for Irish butlers... to serve in the buff

The surly manner and world weary wisdom of the dutiful older manservant like Batman’s Alfred or Carson in Downton Abbey has given way to a somewhat more energetic and fun figure.

It just wouldn’t do, old boy, even to imagine PG Wodehouse’s Jeeves or Hudson in Upstairs Downstairs ever baring their bums to please their betters, let alone gain employment.

But times have changed and a UK company now has the bare-faced cheek to target young Irish recruits by putting the butt into butler.

Butlers in the Buff is recruiting Irish butlers with open auditions being held on Friday.

The company says it is looking for “gorgeous, hardworking men with charm, charisma, and a great bottom!”.

Butlers in the Buff is the world’s first naked butler company, founded by Jason Didcott who, after 15 years’ service in the Royal Navy, started the business in Britain in 2001.

The company is now also successful in Canada, the US, South Africa, and Australia, and is now looking to expand its Irish team.

It is looking for attractive and charismatic men to charm at parties — meeting and greeting, serving drinks and canapĂ©s. Butlers will be expected to work at hen and birthday parties, girls’ nights in, and corporate events. The company promises earnings of €30 an hour, plus tips.

According to the recruitment literature, “new butlers will don their trademark bow tie, collar, cuffs, apron, and nothing else — using their assets to make parties truly memorable.

“Charm and character play just as important a role in the butler’s duties as their looks and bodies.

“New butlers have to be fun and energetic, and enjoy working with party people.”

Butlers will learn to be experts in etiquette, “serving in a sexy and charming manner” but, thankfully, no dancing or stripping is required.

“Being a butler is not all about champagne and smiles. Applicants need to be prepared to be hardworking and punctual, and be confident in ensuring everyone is having a good time.

“With flexible, part-time hours that fit around any schedule, and butlers earn €25–€30 per hour — plus tips and travel costs — working for Butlers in the Buff can be extremely lucrative, and a fun way to earn extra cash.”

Butler in the Buff Mark from Dublin, says: “It is all very professional and not at all sleazy — just an enjoyable way to make lots of extra money. I can earn more in a three-hour Butlers in the Buff party than I can if I worked the whole night in a bar.”

Applicants are asked to apply by email, with photos to work@butlersinthebuff.co.uk for a timeslot for the open auditions taking place via Skype this Friday.
