70 calls a month made to insurance fraud tip-off hotline

Watchdog Insurance Ireland has received more than 2,200 calls from the public to its fraud hotline since the start of 2012.

Michael Horan of the organisation said that the number of calls made to the hotline so far this year was “in line” with that for the past two years.

So far in 2014, the hotline has been contacted 540 times, while last year it received a total of 810 calls, down slightly on the 857 received in 2012.
