Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney has denied that the Government’s response to the Russian import ban has been marked by confusion.

Mr Coveney said €8.2m of Irish food and drink exports would be hit by the sanctions imposed by Moscow on EU produce, rather than the €70m predicted by Bord Bia last week.

He claimed the large discrepancy was due to Bord Bia factoring in areas like pig meat and fish exports, which are already facing problems.
