Enda Kenny’s decision to claim a mortgage tax perk for second homes has been called into question by the refusal of promoted ministers to follow suit.

Two first-time Fine Gael ministers of state say they will not avail of the expenses boost, which is only available to TDs of ministerial ranks.

While in opposition, Mr Kenny pledged to abolish the perk, which lets Cabinet ministers with constituencies outside Dublin claim for homes in the city, once in power.
